Dubai, UAE – August 27, 2025 — Dubai has launched the world’s first $1 million Artificial Intelligence Film Award, a groundbreaking initiative that aims to position the city as a global leader in the fusion of technology and cinematic creativity.
Organized in partnership with Google Gemini, the award invites filmmakers, technologists, and creators from around the world to produce short films generated entirely by AI. Submissions will be judged on realism, storytelling power, creative execution, and humanitarian impact, highlighting how artificial intelligence can be used not just as a tool, but as a new medium for art and culture.
The competition is part of the upcoming 1 Billion Followers Summit, scheduled for January 9–11, 2026, at landmark Dubai venues including Jumeirah Emirates Towers, the Dubai International Financial Centre, and the Museum of the Future. The top ten finalists will have their films screened during the summit, offering global visibility before an audience of creators, investors, and industry leaders.
Officials say the award underscores Dubai’s commitment to becoming a hub for the creator economy and digital innovation, while also inspiring filmmakers to explore AI’s potential to tell human-centered stories.
By combining cinema, creativity, and cutting-edge AI, the initiative signals a new era where technology expands—not replaces—the role of human imagination in storytelling.
